Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

Exo 33:11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
Moses would meet with the Lord in the ‘Tent of Meeting’ during the exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land. During those times God would speak to Moses and direct him as the leader of the people of Israel during their journey through the wilderness. Joshua, Moses young accomplice and soon to be leader of Israel, would accompany Moses on many of those meetings with the Lord.
On one such occasion Moses gets His instructions from the Lord and then leaves the ‘Tent of Meeting’ but Joshua remains! This passage tells us something wonderful about the soon to be leader Joshua and his heart toward God.
He did not go into God’s presence simply to follow Moses, or just to give God a list of requests, nor did he enter the Tent simply to receive instruction. He, as a young man after God, just enjoyed being in God’s presence!
I love this about Joshua. This little verse tells us so much of the character of Joshua and why he became such a great leader of God’s people. We can learn from Joshua the very heart of what sincere worship is. It’s about our desire to be in God’s presence. The joy that being in His presence brings to us and the longing to never leave His presence.
This week, take a moment to spend time alone with your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Not to ask anything of Him but to simply enjoy His presence. This is what I look forward to most about Heaven, that I will never be apart from Him in all His glory!
