Daily devotion – Today!

Today Is the Accepted Time

As believers, we live in the present. We cannot return to yesterday, and we are not guaranteed tomorrow. That is why the Word of God declares so clearly:

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” — Second Epistle to the Corinthians 6:2

There is an urgency in the heart of God. Salvation is not a matter to postpone. Obedience is not something to schedule. The Spirit of God speaks in the language of now.

Our Lord Jesus expressed this same urgency when He said:

“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” — Gospel of John 9:4

The “day” represents opportunity. The “night” speaks of a time when opportunity has passed. There is coming a moment when our witnessing will be finished, our praying completed, our giving concluded, and our earthly service done.

How solemn that truth is.

If we are to share our testimony, it must be today.
If we are to seek God in His Word, it must be today.
If we are to invest in eternal things rather than temporary comforts, it must be today.

James reminds us how fragile life truly is:

“For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” — Epistle of James 4:14

We speak confidently of tomorrow, yet we do not know what tomorrow holds. Our plans must always rest under the humble phrase: “If the Lord wills.” To delay obedience is dangerous, for:

“To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” — Epistle of James 4:17

Every day is a stewardship. Every hour is a gift. Every opportunity to serve Christ is a privilege that may not return.

And so the Spirit says again:

“Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Epistle to the Hebrews 4:7

Not tomorrow.
Not when life is easier.
Not when circumstances improve.

Today.

Today God has given us breath.
Today He has given us His Word.
Today He has placed people in our path.

Let us not waste the “day” while it is still light.

Whatever you are ever going to do for Christ — do it now.
