Daily devotion – The Church at Easter!
A Light in a Darkening World
Reading the news today, it’s hard to ignore the growing sense of instability across our world. Conflicts rage, tensions rise between nations, and even within societies there seems to be an undercurrent of unrest ready to surface. It all points to a world that is not only troubled—but searching.
And right in the middle of it all sits the Church of Jesus Christ.
A people called out by God—not to blend in, but to stand apart. Not to echo the world, but to proclaim a better Kingdom.
As Easter draws near—Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday—we are reminded that the Church holds something the world desperately needs. At a time when everything feels uncertain, we declare the most certain truth in history: Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again. The Cross and the empty tomb remain the anchor for a drifting world.
But we must ask honestly—what impact is the modern Church having?
Too often, the Church has slipped into a chameleon-like existence, adjusting itself to match the culture rather than confronting it with truth. In trying to be accepted, it has sometimes ceased to be distinct. Instead of shining as a beacon of Christ’s light, it risks becoming just another reflection of the world’s shifting values.
Yet this is not how Christ designed His Church.
Jesus said He would build His Church—and His design has not changed. The New Testament shows us a people devoted, gathered, and set apart:
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers…” (Acts 2:42)
The early Church was marked by truth, unity, worship, generosity, and a deep reverence for God. And what was the result?
“And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” (Acts 2:47)
This Easter presents us with an opportunity.
Will the Church gather with purpose, passion, and conviction? Or will it be so absorbed into the rhythm of the world that its voice is barely heard?
The call is clear: return to what Christ intended. Gather together. Worship together. Remember Him. Proclaim Him.
Let us not be dim lights—but blazing beacons.
Let us come together this Easter and allow the Light of Christ to shine brightly—like a laser piercing through the darkness of a fallen world.
Because in a world full of chaos, the Church still carries the greatest hope there is:
Jesus Christ is risen.
