Daily devotion – The wonder of the Body of Christ – the Church!

Pastor Keith   -

Sunday afternoon, along the shores of the Indian Ocean, around 100 people gathered to witness a beautiful testimony of obedience and faith as 13 souls were baptized in accordance with the command of our Lord in Gospel of Matthew 28:19–20.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

As each one was lowered into the water, they were encouraged—upon rising—to pause, to give thanks unto the Lord, and to wait upon Him as prayer was made over them. It was a sacred moment. For some, you could see in their quiet countenance that this act of obedience was no small step, but a profound movement of faith—a surrender of heart and life unto God.

To witness a soul fully given over to the Lord is a blessing not to be taken lightly. There are times when even the youngest in age, or those newly walking with Christ, speak of the treasure they have found in knowing Him as Lord and Saviour. Such a young saint spoke to me this morning after service. Little did one so young realise the blessing they were at this time! Such testimonies stir the heart and remind us of the living reality of our faith.

This is the beauty of the gathering of believers. When redeemed souls come together, there is formed something far more than a meeting—it is a living wonder, the Church of Jesus Christ, vibrant and alive through the work of the Spirit.

And as the days grow darker, the exhortation from the book of Epistle to the Hebrews becomes ever more urgent:

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)

Let us then hold fast to fellowship, to encouragement, and to faithful obedience. For in these simple, steadfast acts, the Lord strengthens His people, prepares His Church, and reminds us that He is with us—always, even unto the end of the age.
