Daily devotion – Giants!
Facing the Giants This Week
This week, each one of us will face giants—some old, familiar struggles, and perhaps some new ones we did not expect. The life of a believer is not a playground; it is a battleground. We are engaged in a real spiritual conflict against forces we cannot see, yet they press in on us from every direction.
What giants are you facing today?
Is it the pressure to conform—from classmates, colleagues, or culture? Is it the constant wave of shifting ideologies presented through media and everyday life? We are living in days where even the most basic truths about identity and what is considered “normal” are being challenged and redefined.
Perhaps your concerns are broader—wars and unrest in the world, such as tensions involving Iran, or the instability of financial systems that can leave many feeling uncertain and unsettled.
Whatever form they take, these giants are real. But so is our God.
When young David faced Goliath, he stood at a clear disadvantage. Goliath was a seasoned warrior—armed, experienced, and intimidating. David was a shepherd boy, equipped only with a sling and a few stones.
Yet David had something far greater: a deep, abiding dependence on the Lord.
His confidence was not in his ability, but in God’s power.
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”
— 1 Samuel 17:45
The victory that day did not come through human strength, but through faith in the living God.
In the same way, whatever battles you are facing, our Lord Jesus Christ knows them fully. His desire is not to leave you in the struggle, but to walk with you through it—to strengthen you, to guide you, and to give you victory, if you will trust in Him.
So as you face your giants this week, remember: you do not stand alone. Come in the name of the Lord—and let Him fight for you.
