The Urgent Call to Repent

Pastor Israel Carmody   -

(Matthew 4:12-25)

From the moment John was silenced, Jesus picked up the same bold message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

This wasn’t a quiet suggestion. This is a bold proclamation. The King had arrived — and everything had to change.

Repentance is more than feeling sorry or guilty. It’s a complete change of mind that leads to a change of direction and, ultimately, a changed life. It means turning from self-rule to Christ’s rule, from sin to God.

Why repent? Because the kingdom of heaven is near. The King is here. Neutrality is no longer possible. When you meet Jesus, you cannot stay the same.

This message both confronts and comforts. It confronts our sin and misplaced loyalties, but it also declares that change is possible. You are not stuck. Grace is available. Transformation is within reach. All because of Jesus.

Where is God calling you to repent today? A lingering pattern of sin? A hardened attitude? A divided heart? Don’t settle for regret or temporary emotion. True repentance produces visible fruit — changed actions, new desires, fresh obedience.

The King who calls you to repent also empowers you to obey. Agree with God about your sin, get specific, make a battle plan with Scripture and prayer, and take the next right step by His grace.

The kingdom offers joy, peace, and righteousness far greater than anything sin can provide. Hear the King’s voice today: Repent, for the kingdom is at hand.

Lord, search my heart and show me where I need to repent. Give me grace to turn fully to You and walk in newness of life. Thank You that real change is possible with You. Amen.
