Daily Devotion – Time to think about Heaven!

Looking Forward to Home

Who are you looking forward to catching up with in Heaven—besides our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? Do you think about Heaven this way at all?

As believers, while we are called to faithfully serve the Lord here on earth, the Scriptures remind us that this world is not our home.
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).

There’s a common saying: “Too heavenly minded to be earthly good.” But that idea simply doesn’t hold up. In fact, the opposite is true. Those who have made the greatest impact on earth are often those whose hearts were fixed on Heaven.

The Apostle Paul lived with this tension—fully committed to the work God had given him, yet deeply longing to be with Christ:
“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better” (Philippians 1:23).

Heaven wasn’t a vague idea to Paul—it was home. A real place. A promised future. A glorious reunion.

And what a day that will be…
To see the Lord face to face.
To be reunited with those who have gone before us in Christ.
To be free from sin, sorrow, and struggle.
To worship with pure hearts in the presence of God.

Taking time to think about Heaven doesn’t distract us from our calling—it strengthens it. It lifts our perspective, renews our hope, and anchors our lives in what truly matters.

This week, take some time—perhaps with your family—to talk about Heaven.
Who might you see?
What will it be like?
What does the Bible say awaits us?

Let that hope stir your heart.

Because the more we look forward to where we’re going…
the more faithfully we’ll live where we are.

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2).
