Daily devotion – Give thanks once again.

Psa 30:12 “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.”

How good it is to pause this Monday public holiday and reflect upon the goodness and faithfulness of our God. The storm is over and once again we were able to gather together with the body of Christ both Sunday morning and evening. What a privilege it is to stand alongside others who have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

We lifted our hands in praise and surrender unto the One who alone is worthy.

Heb 10:24-25 “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Our children sat under the teaching of God’s Word alongside us. We encouraged others and were encouraged ourselves. Together we offered prayers unto our Lord and also prayed for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are walking through difficulties and trials.

Once again we reflected upon the wonder of our salvation and the amazing grace and mercy of God. Though we are completely undeserving, He continues to pour His goodness upon us.

Eph 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

Psa 103:11-12 “For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

We heard again that our guilt and shame have been washed away together with our sins through Jesus Christ. All of this came flooding afresh into our hearts because we gathered together with His Church on Sunday.

How amazing it is now to sit quietly and reflect upon the goodness of God, knowing that even at this very moment the Lord is watching over His people.

Psa 121:7-8 “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

You cannot force people to fellowship any more than you can force people to receive Christ. Yet if only those who neglect gathering together with the saints understood what they are missing. The writer of Hebrews exhorts believers not to forsake fellowship because there is a blessing found when God’s people gather in His presence.

There is encouragement, conviction, worship, prayer, love, unity and thanksgiving that overflows from hearts that have basked together in the glory of Christ.

Psa 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

May our hearts today continue to overflow with thanksgiving unto the Lord Jesus Christ who has saved us, kept us, and gathered us together as His people.
