God Hears Your Prayers
Have you ever attempted to get the attention of someone important, prestigious, or powerful? Perhaps a government minister or even a member of royalty. People write countless letters and emails, yet often receive no response whatsoever.
Last Wednesday evening, during our prayer time together at the chapel, after praying through the requests from within our church family, we turned to the Scriptures to guide our next season of intercessory prayer.
The verse we read was:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
We spent the remainder of our prayer time praying for our nation, seeking God’s mercy where we deserve judgment. We prayed for every Bible-teaching church in our land that faithfully proclaims God’s Word as Christ has commanded.
Notice the wonderful promise found in this verse: God promises to hear our prayers.
God is always ready to hear us. He is never out of reach, too busy, distracted, or indifferent to our cries. Imagine that! The God who poured out the plagues upon Egypt, led His people out of slavery, parted the Red Sea, and then drowned the pursuing Egyptian army that sought to destroy Israel—this same God hears you when you pray.
Not only does He listen, but He also responds. He declares that He will hear from heaven, forgive sin, and bring healing. We deserve none of this, yet this is the gracious character of our God.
Imagine missing out on such a blessing simply because we neglect prayer.
Today, stop for a moment and seek God in prayer. Bring before Him your day, your circumstances, your decisions, your hopes, and your concerns. Trust that God hears and answers prayer because He does.
Help is here. The God of the Bible loves you, cares for you, and desires to bless your life. Don’t miss the blessing of drawing near to Him in prayer.
“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” (Psalm 34:15)
