God’s Guidance
As we draw closer to commencing the building extensions at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour—with three new classrooms, a youth hall, and a new overflow car park—we have begun meeting with builders, tradespeople, and other contractors. It is an exciting season, but it is also a sobering reminder of our dependence upon the Lord.
In our study through Exodus, we will soon come to the planning and construction of the Tabernacle, the “tent of meeting,” where Moses, Aaron, and the Levites would fulfil their God-given calling in the service of Israel. Every detail of that project was directed by God. Nothing was left to human opinion or convenience. The Lord provided the plans, the resources, the workers, and the wisdom.
The connection to our own building project is simple: everything we do is to be done for the glory of God.
Colossians 3:17
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Yes, we are carefully working through the practical matters necessary to see this project become a reality. Plans must be approved, trades coordinated, budgets managed, and timelines established. Yet none of these practical steps should ever take precedence over seeking the Lord. Before we build with bricks and mortar, we must build upon the foundation of prayer.
Our desire is not simply to complete a construction project, but to follow God’s leading every step of the way. This is His church, His ministry, His provision, and ultimately His building. We are merely His servants, privileged to participate in what He is doing.
Jesus reminds us that when our priorities are right, the Lord faithfully cares for everything else.
Matthew 6:33–34
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
We therefore ask you, our church family, to make this building project a matter of regular prayer. Please pray that every decision will be guided by God’s wisdom, that every conversation will honour Christ, and that we will never move ahead of His direction or lag behind His leading.
Our prayer is that when this project is completed, all the glory will belong to God alone. May these new facilities become places where children are grounded in God’s Word, young people are equipped to follow Christ, and many others hear the gospel and come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour in these closing days before His return.
May we never lose sight of the truth that unless the Lord builds the house, our labour is in vain—but when He leads, His purposes will always stand.
