Calvary Youth & Calvary Kids
We are pleased to share some important updates regarding Calvary Youth (CCSH). The church leadership has invited Travis and Kyla Wightman to serve as our Youth Leaders. They will be supported by our faithful youth leadership team—Blake and Lily, Esther, and Shane—together with the pastoral team. They will coordinate and oversee the Calvary Youth ministry through to the end of the year.
Calvary Youth recommences on Friday, 31st July, along with the Calvary Kids programme. Please continue to pray for our leaders and for the young people as they grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

From the Pastor’s Pen
There was some disturbing reading in Saturday’s newspaper concerning the recent Labor National Conference and the direction in which our nation appears to be heading concerning Israel. There has been increasing hostility towards the nation of Israel, with proposals and debate surrounding accusations of genocide against Israel and policies that, in my view, give insufficient weight to the actions and ongoing responsibility of Hamas. Israel itself has expressed concern that the proposed Labor platform places responsibility for the conflict disproportionately upon Israel while giving insufficient attention to Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist organisations. Church, we need to remember what happened on 7 October 2023. Hamas launched a brutal attack upon Israel in which approximately 1,200 people were killed, primarily Israeli civilians, and more than 240 people were taken hostage.
And we must not forget what happened here in Australia.
On 15 December 2025, our nation witnessed the horrific antisemitic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach during a Jewish Hanukkah gathering. At least 16 people lost their lives and many others were wounded and traumatised. The Australian Human Rights Commission described it as an antisemitic terrorist attack against the Jewish community.And yet, Jewish families in Australia today are living with fear of attack simply because they are Jewish. Church, how should we respond to all of this?
We must remember that God sees what nations do. God sees how nations treat His purposes, His Word and His people.The prophet Hosea gives us a sobering warning:
Hosea 8:7“For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.” What a terrifying principle.
A nation can sow seeds of rebellion against God, injustice, hatred and the rejection of His truth—and eventually there comes a harvest.
Scripture absolutely teaches that God judges nations, and that nations are accountable to Him. Psalm 9:17 says:
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” That should cause us to tremble.
Australia desperately needs the mercy of God. And while we may disagree strongly with political decisions and policies concerning Israel, our response must never be hatred towards anyone. The Church must love people, pray for people, proclaim the Gospel and stand firmly upon the truth of God’s Word. But when we see increasing antisemitism, hostility towards Israel and a willingness to excuse or minimise the brutality of terrorism, we should not simply shake our heads and move on. Church, prayer must be raised with a fervour like perhaps no time previously in our nation. We should pray for our government. We should pray for our Prime Minister and those in authority. We should pray for the Jewish people of Australia who are living with fear.
We should pray for Israel. We should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, just as Scripture commands us:
Psalm 122:6 “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
And we should pray that God would have mercy upon Australia.
And above everything else, let us pray that Australia would turn back to God before we experience the consequences of a nation that has forgotten Him.

We have an enemy who prowls like a roaring lion to devour us. We must stand firm against him and have a strong faith. We know our God is greater, may we draw strength from this. May the Lord keep us in peace, and away from confusion and darkness. May we by His grace stand firm against the schemes of the enemy and daily grow in our faith and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ.
